Hello friends who have me added over here. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm likely deleting this journal and starting all over again. I'm getting tired of people hating on me just because of past mistakes that I've made. Apparently my username alone has a bad reputation so I'm just done with it. I'm making a change. I will let you know what I come up with so that I don't lose contact with any of you. :)

The Scene is dead, long live the scene?

I don't know why, but that title just fit for some reason. I tend to have a love/hate relationship with reading blogs and comments on FBR_T lately. As much as I am a FBR/Decaydance fangirl of the worst kind, I sometimes find their wittyness and fucked up humor amusing as all hell even though I really honestly hate how often they talk shit about mah boys in The Cab. Today I stumbled across this http://community.livejournal.com/fbr_trash/2645175.html?mode=reply post and the comments to it and it got me thinking. Personally, I never understood the whole meaning of "the scene". Technically aren't there a bunch of different "scenes"? For instance, in highschool you have the goth group, the punk group, the skater group, the popular group, and the nerdy/smart people group. Technically aren't they all "scenes", or is it only the "popular" kids that fit into "the scene"? It doesn't make sense to me.

So I started reading that post about how FBR is going down hill and about how "the scene" is either dead or filled with 13 year olds. Um, wait, hello, I'm 26 going on 27 and I'm still in love with most of these bands. And besides that, FBR and Decaydance have a huge list of bands on their label. How could these people even consider them dead? Once again, it doesn't make sense to me. I don't think I will ever understand it. I know I'm the exception to a lot of the "rules" in life but just because I'm 27 and still into these things, does that make me a freak?

I'd been so excited for this day to come that when it finally came and I was finally standing in line with my best friend Kat, and my sister Tara I was so nervous and excited I was shaking. Yes, shaking. We got there at about 6 and the line wasn't too bad. We met a few nice people in line and me and Kat stood on the fence surrounding the parking lot so that we could keep an eye out for the boys. We both spotted The Cab's van at the same time, the most dented up one. The Mule van. HAHA! Anyways, we managed to see some of the boys from Eye Alaska and Summerset by their vans but didn't get to talk to them. We got to see John from Summer Set change his shirt which was pretty fucking hot.

When they let us in me, Kat and Tara booked it as close as we could. We ended up 8th row at this point then as the bands set up and such we ended up getting closer. The first band up was Anarbor. I hadn't realized how many of their songs I actually knew. Really fell in love with them watching them live. Good set all around. Next up was Eye Alaska. Oh Eye Alaska. First of all, Brandon, the lead singer is the world's biggest flirt, sexy thing that he is. He was doing all kinds of hip thrusts, and sexy little poses, as well as basically raping the audience with his eyes. I had a blast watching him and took tons of pictures of the guy and fell in love with their music. My sister bought their CD. I intend to burn it as soon as I can. After them was Summer Set. Their set was pretty awesome too. Didn't know any of their songs or know much about any of the guys although the lead singer is pretty cute and John (guitarist?) is pretty adorable too. I wanted to steal the glasses that John had on during the whole set. After them was The Secret Handshake. Once again, I fell in love with the singer. What is it with me and guys with curly hair? I seem to be having a thing for them again. He has a pretty awesome voice too and the songs were good. I fell in love with their song TGIF about all of the shows I used to watch when I was a kid. Full House anyone? Yes, I wanted to rape Uncle Jessie too when I was little.

By the time The Cab came on me and Kat had managed to shove our way to the second row and damn was I so happy to be there by the time their set started. Alex Deleon right up in my face almost the whole time and Bryan Dawson literally up in my face the entire time. As soon as they started I was pretty much in a daze. They started out with "I'll Run" and during the song I had an epiphany. For a very long time I've been trying to decide what my first tattoo is going to be and while I was listening to that song the line "Have a little faith in me" stuck out at me just like it always does so I decided that I am going to get a tattoo that says that in pretty script writing sometime soon. During their whole set I pretty much found myself just watching Singer, completely content the whole time and took a million pictures. Got tons of good ones too. I'm so happy that my pictures came out good. I felt really bad when he was singing Vegas Skies because I could tell it was really hard for him to get through. Me and Kat both noticed thatl he was tearing up during it and even more so because he pretty much just let the audience sing a fairly good portion of it. I gotta admit, I kind of cried too. I got a video during "Take My Hand" although part of it got really messed up because during that song he really did take my hand. I swear I almost fainted at that point. Later on during the set he held onto my friend Kat's hand and kissed the back of it. He also held my sister's hand for a very long time towards the end of the set. All around an amazing experience. I have to admit it. I kind of fell in love with the new guy Bryan. He's an amazing guitarist and in all honesty he really fits in with the band perfectly. The missing piece of the puzzle if you ask me. But don't get me wrong by saying that. I still love Ian Crawford but this new guy really fits in perfectly. I pretty much spent the all of Bounce holding up my friend Kat who was passing out due to the heat and the anxiety disorder that she suffers from. Really freaked me out. I kind of feel guilty because during that song I literally was holding her up with one hand and taking pictures with the other.

When their set ended me and my sister more or less carried Kat to the bar area of the club and begged the guy at the bar to give us water, which he did. THANK GOD! After about 5 minutes of recovering we slowly made our way to the merch tent. Low and behold we walk up and the first person we see is Cash who recognized Kat from the last time she'd seen and met them. He was such a sweetheart. I was so impressed the moment I met him. He was totally polite and sold us our merch. I bought the "Bounce Back to Me" shirt and the white, purple and blue "The Cab" tank top, both of which i'm sure I will wear all of the time. We both got pictures with Cash as well. He's such a sweety. After that we ran into a bunch of the guys from Eye Alaska and Summer Set. Got pictures with a bunch of them although I regret I don't remember half of their names. I remember one dude named Chase (from Summerset?) and John (Also from Summerset). Also met the sexy guy Brandon from Eye Alaska. God damn he's a hottie. I can't really remember the exact order of things after this I was really out of it and slightly overwhelmed by this point. I remember meeting some guy named Wes who was from a local band. Dude was such a cutie. He was promoting his band and we promised him we'd check them out. He also had really awesome curly hair that he let us both run our hands through. After that we all but walked right up to Singer. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest. I was so nervous but he was really sweet. I gave him the note from my friend Jamie that I had promised her I'd give to him. He asked me if Jamie was a boy or a girl. I told him she was a girl. He looked a little relieved at that point. LOL! He told me to tell her hi and gave me a hug for being a good friend. I told him about my tattoo idea and he said "Come here" and pulled me into a big hug. Again, I nearly started bawling at this point. So amazing. He took a picture with me and one with my friend Kat. My sister was being all shy, which i thought was cute. After we met with Singer we ran into a local solo artist named Justin who's from Long Beach just like me. Then we worked our way over to Marshall. Marshall seemed really shy at first but after talking to him for a bit he brightened up took seperate pictures with me and with Kat and gave us both hugs. He is even more adorable in person. I was so happy I got to hug him. At that point we just walked around for a bit running into various people. We found Bryan some what hiding in the doorway of the club so me and Kat rushed over and started talking to him. Wow, this boy was such a sweetie. Almost imediately he had his arms around me and Kat for a picture. Seperate pictures again. It was awesome. I can't remember the first time we ran into Johnson. I think we found him lurking in the doorway of the club the first time too. He was a sweetie from the start too. The way he smiles makes me giggle. He smiles like a goof but is a real sweetheart.

After meeting the boys of The Cab we pretty much lurked around awhile longer and just kept talking to and meeting more people. We also ran into our valet from the hotel who just happens to be in a local band. We promised him we'd come check out his band too. He also made us promise that when he gets big we would tell all of the little teenies about how he parked Kat's mom's car. Seriously by the end of the night we had met pretty much every single one of the guys that had played that night and not a single one of them blew us off. By the end of the night we had both gotten several hugs from each of the boys from The Cab. Talked to John from Summer Set several times and got hugs from him each time, Kat managed to get all of the boys from the Cab, John, Wesley, and Justin to talk to her girlfriend Bailey on the phone. Right before we left we managed to get a 3rd set of hugs from a very tired Singer who literally fell asleep with his head on Kat's shoulder for a minute. Such a cutie.

To top of the end of the night, while we were in the car I decided to jump on twitter to tell Singer just how much I appreciated the night and how much I appreciated the hugs from him. I told him that I would never forget that night and low and behold 5 minutes later my phone goes off with an @reply from him telling me that he would never forget me either and to stay in touch. I cried for a good 15 minutes after that. Not to sound like the world's biggest cheeseball but he really is an inspiration to me and that last little touch on my life is something I will never forget.

Never ever going to forget a moment of the night. BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!!

For anyone who wants to see pictures, click the link to my photobucket. There's way too many to post them all seperately, I will post the video I took of Take My Hand once I upload it.
Just a little bit about me!

I usually hate writing in these things and talking about myself but I figured that since I actually have a few people who have added me as friends on here I would let you all know a little bit about myself. Hopefully you guys will post or comment me with a few things about yourself because that would be awesome. Okay so here goes!

Basics:
-My full name is Kristin Nicole Statler (I love the fact that I have the same middle name as Hayley Williams even though hers is spelled differently)
-I'm 26 years old. Born on November 24, 1982.
-I was born in Long Beach California and have lived here pretty much entire life except for a year and a half from June 2006 to January 2008 when I lived in Sacramento with my best friend Rosebud.
-If it were possible for your soul mate to be a friend rather than a lover Rosebud would be my soul mate.
-I have an older sister named Tara who is a two and a half years older than me. She and I actually get along 95% of the time unlike most siblings.
-My parents are both pretty much hippies. My dad really does still smoke MJ on a daily basis even though he tries to hide it from me.
-I've worked for the same used bookstore called Once Read Books since I was 15 except for while I was living in Sacramento when I worked at Target (ew ew ew. I don't miss that job at all). Oh and I've known my boss since I was 5 when my dad started working for him. How many people can say that hmm?
-I am a student at Long Beach City College and have been for entirely too long. I was studying to be a teacher at first then decided I wanted to major in human services thus losing a lot of units for switching majors.
-I've had scoliosis since I was 5 and have had one surgery to try to correct it when I was 9. Unfortunately that didn't do a whole lot of good so I still have a pretty obvious curve to my spine.

Personality:
-My mother always tells me I'm a nurturer. I hate seeing my loved ones and friends hurting in any way. If there's ever anything I can do to help, even if it means putting myself out I'm going to do it.
-My favorite philosophy in life is "treat others how you wish to be treated" It's not really that hard to live by folks. I promise it really isn't.
-However, I have a tendency to be a tad opinionated. I'm not afraid to speak up when I believe in something. Don't like it, tough shit. If I think what you're doing is wrong and/ or immoral you better believe I'm going to speak up about it. If I think what you're doing is amazing and admire it I'm going to speak up about that too.
-Believe it or not I like music of all kinds. Literally anything from oldies, jazz, good irish folk songs to alternative rock, classic rock, power pop, pop, hip hop, some rap and everything in between. Even a few (a very VERY few) country songs now and again.
-I am obsessed with music. I tend to get a little obsessive when it comes to the bands I like.
-My current two top obsessions are Cobra Starship and The Cab, although I also like Say Anything, 3oh3, Forever The Sickest Kids, All Time Low, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Panic At the Disco, Metro Station (come on guys Trace Cyrus is not THAT ugly), The Hush Sound, Gym Class Heroes, Katy Perry, Midtown, (I'm obsessed with Gabe Saporta, DUH), Cute Is What We Aim For, Head Automatica, Glassjaw, 30 Seconds to Mars, Taking Back Sunday, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, My Chemical Romance, The Used, All American Rejects, Hey Monday, and probably a gazillion others I can't even think of right now.
-I am a hopeless fangirl who loves going to concerts.

Concerts I've been to:
-Gloria Estefan (when I was 6 or 7. I went with my cousin's because my sister had gone to the Icecapades the year before)
No Doubt in 1997: I miss the Tragic Kingdom days when Gwen Stefani wasn't such a sell out
-Good Charlotte :Young and Hopeless tour in 2003 I think
-JC Chasez : 2003 (Shut up, Rosebud was obsessed with Nsync thus getting me obsessed with them)
-Simple Plan: 2004 (I waited in the rain and got absolutely soaked before that concert)
-Vans Warped tour :Fall Out Boy, Senses Fail, My Chemical Romance, Tsunami Bomb and a bunch of others I can't even remember anymore. (My big sister got in a fight defending me in the My Chem mosh pit then got stung by a bee an hour later. I'm never going to forget that day)
-Mest: Fall 2005 I think (I was about 2 feet from Tony Lovato the whole time and got a smile and a wave that night and it made my entire life complete for quite awhile)
-30 Seconds to Mars: Spring 2006 (I went with Rosebud and Chantel while Chantel was pregnant. They all blessed Chantel's tummy. I also got a hug from Jared Leto that night. Never EVER going to forget that)
-Taste of Chaos 2007: The Used, Aiden, Senses Fail, and a few others I can't really remember too well. (Rosebud and her niece Kirsten left me in the mosh pit by myself because they didn't want to get knocked around so I rocked my ass off and screamed my lungs out by myself the whole time. I loved it!)
-Say Anything: March 2008 (Went with my friend Sarah and was 3rd row from the front the whole time. I have so many amazing picts from that night. I fell completely in love with Max Bemis even more that night)
-Warped tour 2008: Cobra Starship, All Time Low, Rise Against, Gym Class Heroes, Say Anything, Katy Perry, Reel Big Fish, Norma Jean (We got there late and only saw the last 5 minutes of Cobra Starship which made me super sad. I got a Monster energy drink ball thrown at me during Norma Jean and I deflated it and kept it. Also met Say Anything and got a hand shake from Max Bemis which is another moment I will never forget. Wanted to meet Katy Perry but the line was way too long. Oh and we nearly got killed in the most pit for Rise Against because my friend Lizette loves them and swore we were going to be fine. Then a fight broke out and she freaked out and wouldn't go near any mosh pits after that. Gy,m Class Heroes blew me away that night)
-Sassyback tour: Cobra Starship, Forever The Sickest Kids, Hit the Lights, Sing it Loud: (October 2008) (As soon as me, my sister and her boyfriend walked up to the venue we got a smile and a wave from Gabe, which made my night right there. All of the bands were amazing even though once again I was in the mosh pit by myself. Cobra Starship absolutely blew me away especially since I knew Gabe was having problems with his voice at the time. I loved how many times that man thanked the audience that night. Yes I fell in love with him even more that night)
-I WILL BE SEEING FALL OUT BOY, COBRA STARSHIP, ALL TIME LOW, METRO STATION AND HEY MONDAY DURING THE SECOND FOLIE A DEUX TOUR IN APRIL AND I CAN'T WAIT!
-If all goes my way I will also being seeing Bamboozle Hoodwink at the Anaheim house of blues thus seeing We The Kings, Forever the Sickest Kids, Mercy Mercedes and another band I can't remember the name of.

I have more to add to this but I have to leave work now so I'm ending it here. Tell me a few things about yourselves. I'm curious as to who I've really added on this thing. :)

<3 Kristin
